For consultants and auditors
Spend the engagement evaluating evidence, not collecting it
The expensive part of an assessment is not the judgment. It is the fortnight of interviews and spreadsheets that has to happen before any judgment is possible.
Your value is your professional opinion. Most of your billable time is spent assembling the material that opinion will be based on — and then reassembling it next year, from scratch, because the material was never a system, only a folder.
What changes
| Today | With EVIDENT |
|---|---|
| Interviews and questionnaires to find out what exists | The structure is read directly and presented as evidence |
| A spreadsheet that is out of date the day it is finished | A snapshot that can be re-run and compared |
| Conclusions whose reasoning lives in your head | Conclusions that carry their evidence and rule version |
| Starting again for the next client | The same methodology, applied again, with your decisions kept |
| Handing over a document | Handing over exports that name the run and the rules behind them — and, already in Preview, a self-verifying evidence package |
What you get to keep
- Your methodology, encoded. A judgement you make once becomes a policy of that client’s, and the rule behind it travels with you. What does not travel is the verdict: a false positive for one organisation is a real finding for another, and a tool that carried the decision across would be quietly wrong on the second engagement.
- Provenance for every conclusion. The evidence and the exact rule version, so a conclusion can be defended a year later by somebody who was not in the room.
- A review history. Who confirmed what, who rejected what and why, with dates and reasons, and nothing overwritten.
- Repeatability. The same assessment across clients and environments, so what you are comparing is the systems and not your own inconsistency.
It does not replace you, and it should not
EVIDENT reports evidence, gaps and risk. It does not decide whether a lawful basis is adequate, whether a retention period is proportionate, or whether a control is satisfied in the spirit as well as the letter. Those are judgments, they are why a client hires you, and a tool that pretended to make them would be wrong more often than it was useful.
What it removes is the part of the engagement nobody wants to pay for.
